Ethos: Cinematic Images That Move You

My name is Loren Toney, Creative Director of Tone Studios. It’s nice to meet you!

I know that artists bios have a certain structure to them—one noted by a third person perspective, a lack of emotional language and a hesitancy to try to shape the view of the artist to the audience— at least this is what I learned in school anyway.

It would feel awkward for me to follow this pattern, as my creative ethos includes three main pillars—authenticity, clarity and sentimentality. This begins with how I use my voice to speak about my work.

As an artist, I aim to document authentic moments as they unfold in front of me. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2018, with a Cinema Arts and Science Major with a minor in Photography. Cinema is a major source of inspiration for me as an artist, and impacts the way I document the world. My aim is for each photo to be reminiscent of a movie still, hence the tag line “ Cinematic Imagery That Moves You.”

My favorite arenas of photography are documentary/photojournalism , fashion, music and behind the scenes.

I hope you find an image here that moves you.

With Gratitude, From Love,
